Dr. John Chaney wins Joint Council for Thoracic Surgery Education and Thoracic Surgery Director’s Association “TOP GUN” award at the annual American Association for Thoracic Surgery Meeting.
First year traditional and fourth year integrated residents from across the country submit a video of them performing an anastomosis on a Chamberlain mini-simulator provided by the TSDA. A follow-up video is submitted three weeks later. The TSDA then chose the top five finalists to compete in the “Top Gun” competition at the annual AATS meeting in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Dr. John Chaney was chosen as a finalist and competed live on April 27th in Toronto and brought home the honor of being named “Top Gun”!
"We are very proud that our CT surgery fellow has won the AATS Resident Top Gun award! The University of Louisville and our Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery continues to gain national recognition as a premier training program!"
- Dr. Mark Slaughter, Chairman of the Department
