Dunbar CAR T-Cell Program to bring more advanced immunotherapy treatment to cancer patients
Louisville resident Thomas E. Dunbar has pledged $1 million to UofL to create a specialized center to provide chimeric antigen receptor positive T (CAR T) cell therapies to patients at the UofL Brown Cancer Center and other centers in Kentucky and the Midwest. This will provide cancer patients throughout the region with access to some of the most advanced immunotherapy treatments available. The new program will be named the Dunbar CAR T-Cell Program.

UofL Hospital Trauma Team presented awards for life-saving efforts
In a ceremony on Sept. 5, three former patients and gunshot wound survivors, activist Christopher 2X and Russell Coleman, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, presented specially designed awards to the UofL Hospital trauma outreach team and the UofL Hospital trauma surgery team in recognition of life-saving care provided to gunshot wound victims from 2003-2019. http://www.uoflnews.com/post/uofltoday/uofl-hospital-trauma-team-presented-awards-for-life-saving-efforts/
First patient enrolled in Nanoknife direct study for treatment of stage III pancreatic cancer
The Department of Surgery recently announced enrollment of the first patient in AngioDynamics’ NanoKnife® Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) "Data IRECancer Treatment” clinical study (DIRECT). The DIRECT Study supports a proposed expanded indication for the NanoKnife System in the treatment of Stage III pancreatic cancer.
