Good Afternoon —

I’m pleased to report that we submitted our LCME Action Plan on July 30^th.  The LCME will take action on our plan at its October meeting and if endorsed, will set a date for our follow up focused visit.

Our Action Plan represents many, many hours of work and discussion on the part of 60+ faculty, students, and staff who served on the LCME Steering Committee and the LCME Standard Subcommittees.  We owe all of these individuals a huge “thank you” for their contributions they have made these past several months.

And now, we begin the next phase of work—translating the tasks outlined in the Action Plan into reality.  I’m pleased to report that a great many of these tasks have already been completed, with all of the remaining tasks underway or about to begin.  I encourage you to read through the Action Plan and familiarize yourself with the work we have already done and what we are doing now. Visit https://louisville.edu/medicine/files/lcme-action-plan-july-2014 to view our action plan.  We have a completely renovated preclinical instructional space that looks spectacular, a renovated library that is now open 24/7, a new integrated first year curriculum, a stronger educational infrastructure and new technology tools and systems in place to better oversee and centrally monitor each area of the curriculum.

I have scheduled another Open Forum on Tuesday, August 26^th at 4:30 p.m. in the 2^nd floor Lecture Hall(Rm.  B215) in the Instructional Building.  At the Forum, I will provide details on the LCME Action Plan, summarize the results of the preliminary follow up student surveys, and respond to your questions.

I hope your schedule will permit you to attend the Forum and stay connected and knowledgeable with our work to address all of the LCME’s concerns.
