Learning Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, the participants should be able to:
1. Identify the cross-cultural dynamic that has contributed to disparities in oral and systemic healthcare for Americans with IDD and focus on strategies for improving access to quality healthcare for these individuals.
2. Discuss the Five Essential Concepts of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry as a critical thinking construct, which can shape an organized approach to the diagnosis and clinical management of the medical and dental patient with IDD.
3. Recognize the importance of assembling an interdisciplinary team when approaching the patient with IDD, and identify the key members of that team.
