  • The eQuality Project at ULSOM - UofL is the national model for AAMC competencies for LGBT health in medical schools (http://louisville.edu/medicine/ume/curriculum/equality
  • Medical students as Teachers program - prepares students to be effective physician educators to peers and patients through experiences in a variety of courses/clerkships.
  • Distinction tracks: Business and Leadership, Global & Public Health, Health Equity and Social Justice, Medical Education and Research Tracks
  • Areas of curricular emphasis: compassion, social justice, health disparities, complex biopsychosocial problems
  • M1-2 students spend ~150-180 hours a year in a small group, standardized patient, or clinical teaching environments
  • Student Research - Many opportunities across the Health Sciences Campus for research. While research is optional, at least 1/3 of the class participates in research in some form throughout their medical education.
  • Medical students also have the opportunity to participate in the Health & Social Justice Scholars Program, offered through the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, which emphasizes projects embedded in community health for Health Science Campus students (Medical, Dental, Public Health or Nursing) at UofL.
