ULSOM Admissions Process

The University of Louisville School of Medicine (ULSOM) conducts blind interviews focused on non-academic portions of your file, including ULSOM secondary responses, AMCAS experiences, employment, community, and military service.

The Admissions Committee meets 2 times per month from August - March to discuss interviewed candidates. During our Admissions Committee meetings, your two interviewers will present your file to the full ULSOM Admissions Committee. A 2/3rds vote from the committee is required to make a decision on your file.

NOTIFICATION: Early Decision applicants will be notified by 10/1 of their status,  Admit,  Hold for Further Considerationor Deny. If you are not admitted as an Early Decision applicant on 10/1, your application is released to apply to other medical schools if you wish. If you received a notification status of Hold for further consideration, your file will be considered along with the general applicant pool. There will be 3 notification dates during the 2024-2025 admissions cycle. They will be 10/15, 12/11 and 2/12. If you do not receive an email of Admit, you will either be notified that you are being Held for Further Consideration or Deny. On the last decision notification date of 2/12 we will add the status of Waitlist. You will be asked to let us know if you wish to be on our waitlist at this point.

We will require a response to the offer of admission or Waitlist within two weeks of receiving the notification email. Response to the admission offer can be made by return email. No seat deposit is required.

Once an acceptance is received, candidates are added to the class roster. AMCAS rules stipulate that candidates may hold multiple offers. They may remain on a school’s roster until April 30th of a given year. After April 30th, ULSOM will exercise its school-specific procedures to confirm an accepted applicant’s intention to matriculate to ensure that it fills each seat in its entering class. If, at that time, we cannot confirm an applicant’s intention to matriculate, ULSOM may choose to rescind the acceptance.

Additional information: If you indicated an interest in a dual degree program, follow the dual degree contact link provided in the interview confirmation email. Candidates are responsible for contacting the program administrator as additional information/interviews may be required for dual degree program consideration.

If you selected Either Location for the Trover Rural Track (TRT) on your ULSOM secondary application, you may receive an email inviting you to complete the TRT application. You must complete the TRT application to receive further TRT consideration. You may forgo completing the application if you are no longer interested in consideration for the TRT campus. Additional information on the ULSOM Trover Campus can be found at https://baptisthealthdeaconess.com/ultc.
