ULSOM Admissions Process

The University of Louisville School of Medicine (ULSOM) conducts blind interviews focused on non-academic portions of your file, including ULSOM secondary responses, AMCAS experiences, employment, community and military service.

Unless notified otherwise, the ULSOM Admissions Committee will meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday September through March. The two interviewers will present your file to the full ULSOM Admissions Committee. A 2/3rds vote from the committee is required to be admitted. Following discussion of your file, the decision could be to ADMIT, DENY, or WAITLIST. Final waitlist candidates are selected during February and March of the admissions cycle.

NOTIFICATION: Emails will be sent on the Wednesday following a Tuesday meeting. We will require a response to the offer within two weeks of receiving the email. Should a decision not be made, candidates will be sent an email on Wednesday following a meeting to that effect. Your file will be available at each subsequent meeting until a final decision is made. Response to the admission offer can be made by return email. Once an acceptance is received, candidates are added to the class roster. AMCAS rules stipulate that candidates may hold multiple offers. They may remain on a school’s roster until April 30th of a given year. After April 30th, ULSOM will exercise its school-specific procedures to confirm an accepted applicant’s intention to matriculate to ensure that it fills each seat in its entering class. If, at that time, we cannot confirm an applicant’s intention to matriculate, ULSOM may choose to rescind the acceptance.

Admissions notifications are made beginning October 1st for early decision applicants and October 15th for applicants in the general pool.

Additional information: If you indicated an interest in a dual degree program, follow the dual degree contact link provided in the interview confirmation email. Candidates are responsible for contacting the program administrator as additional information/interviews may be required for dual degree program consideration.

If you selected Either Location for the Trover Rural Track (TRT) on your ULSOM secondary application, you may receive an email inviting you to complete the TRT application. You must complete the TRT application to receive further TRT consideration. You may forgo completing the application if you are no longer interested in consideration for the TRT campus. Additional information on the ULSOM Trover Campus can be found at https://baptisthealthdeaconess.com/ultc.
