Outside Scholarships

General Information

All outside scholarship checks should be sent to the Student Financial Aid Office at the following address:

Student Financial Aid Office
University of Louisville
Houchens Building Room 110
Louisville, Kentucky 40292

Checks and/or documentation should include student name, student identification number, and award period, e.g. fall only or fall and spring. If an outside organization does not specify an award period, funds will be evenly distributed between fall and spring semester if check is made payable for $1,000 or more or applied to the current semester if check is made payable for less than $1,000.

Outside scholarship funds apply to student financial aid packages and are counted as financial assistance. If outside scholarship exceeds financial need and/or cost of attendance, adjustments will be made to the student’s aid package to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Self-help aid, such as loans and work-study awards, are adjusted before grant or scholarship aid is affected. If an overaward occurs after aid has been disbursed, the student may be required to repay all or a portion of their financial aid to the University.

The average processing time is up to seven business days and up to ten business days during high volume times. If you are expecting a scholarship from an outside organization and the scholarship has not posted to your student account, contact the outside organization to verify when the funds will be sent to the Student Financial Aid Office.

Scholarship Organizations/Payors may be referred to our Guide for Scholarship Organizations.
