Outstanding Performance Awards
Every study of employee engagement and success seems to agree: We all want to work with outstanding colleagues who inspire and uplift us through their dedication to excellence. And when we are surrounded by inspirational colleagues, we ourselves become more productive and energized as well. We become a great place to work.
The Outstanding Performance Awards recognize university staff (both exempt and nonexempt) who inspire others through their outstanding dedication and commitment to UofL. The awards serve as a companion to the Distinguished Faculty Awards that similarly honor the excellent contributions of university faculty each year. They are given annually to employees across all staff job groups at the university, and not specific to any specific staff category.
When thinking of staff colleagues deserving of recognition, some examples of exemplary service might include excellence in maintaining our campus environment, event planning, student affairs, communications, customer service, human resources, staff development, finance, IT, research, medical fields and many others.

Guidelines and criteria
View the Outstanding Performance Awards (OPA): Complete Guidelines. Nominations are accepted for this annual award between December 1 and February 15 each year.
Deadline and timing
Nominations for 2023 winners are accepted from December 1, 2022 to February 15, 2023. Winners will be notified the end of March and invited to attend the 2023 Annual Faculty & Staff Recognition Reception in April.
Winners of the Outstanding Performance Award receive $1,000, an acrylic award and recognition at the Annual Faculty & Staff Excellence Recognition Reception.
