We are pleased that you are considering pursuing a graduate degree with the College of Education & Human Development (CEHD). Applying to a graduate program and navigating the process can be a challenge and the Graduate Student Success (GSS) office is here to assist you from start to finish. If you cannot find the answer to what you are looking for, please email us at and a member of our team will get back to you.

If you are a first-time degree seeker...

  • Students who are interested in pursuing a graduate degree in CEHD (master's, doctoral, certificate), should review the available programs and their admission requirements by visiting the graduate catalog: If you have questions after reviewing the information, please contact the program director or and we will connect you with the appropriate individual.

If you are a transfer student...

  • Students may be allowed to transfer up to six credit hours of graduate academic credit from another regionally accredited institution that offers advanced degrees with program and college approval. Only courses in which the student earned a grade of B or better will be considered for transfer. The hours will be transferred, not the quality points. A transfer of credits is possible only after earning six hours from the University of Louisville College of Education and Human Development. Students wishing to transfer credit should make a request to their faculty advisor for review after they are admitted to their graduate program.

If you are a visiting student....

  • Students visiting from another university may take course work on a space-available basis, provided they meet the prerequisites for the course. Visiting students must submit a non-degree application with UofL's Graduate School and must submit official transcripts certifying at least a bachelor's degree. For more information:
