Presenters:Tony Arnold – Brandeis School of Law; Department of Urban & Public Affairs; Resilience Justice Project, Students and Community Presenters
Description: Louisville Metro asked UofL Resilience Justice Project to integrate environmental justice, resilience justice, and inclusive community engagement into planning in Southwest Louisville’s Mill Creek watershed when community residents felt neglected and community organizations were inactive. The RJ Project’s community-centric, justice-centric, multi-methods work has led to marginalized residents’ voices being heard via in-depth interviews and a community report and flier, equity content in both MSD and Parks plans, environmental-justice learning by over 200 high school students, an award-winning national publication about community-engaged equitable planning with 39 student co-authors, 5 UofL community-engaged classes, revitalization of a community group, and 9 community partnerships.
