Martin Luther King Scholar Afi Tagnedji
Afi Tagnedji is a first year Martin Luther King Scholar majoring in Biochemistry on a Pre- med Track. She is minoring in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) and is working towards a certificate in Peace and Justice. She is originally from Togo, West Africa and has lived in Louisville since she arrived in the US in 2015. In the next few months, Afi plans to begin research at the University of Louisville as she studies toward her goal of becoming a Physician. When asked about her career choice Afi says, “I saw back home what the lack of access to basic health care does to families and communities, even here in the US I see the poor health outcomes, especially those in African American communities. I hope to merge my love of science and passion for social justice to help combat these issues".
