Border Benefit Eligibility
Students must attend school or reside in an eligible state or county:
- All Illinois Counties
- All Indiana Counties
- Excludes Southern Indiana counties eligible for in-state tuition (Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Perry, Scott and Washington)
- Select Missouri Counties
- Cape Girardeau, Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, Mississippi, New Madrid, Perry, Saint Charles, Saint Genevieve, Saint Louis, Saint Louis City, Scott and Warren
- All Ohio Counties
- Select Tennessee Counties
- Cheatham, Clay, Davidson, Macon, Maury, Montgomery, Pickett, Robertson, Rutherford, Stewart, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson
- All West Virginia Counties

Accepted first-time freshmen from the Border Benefit Award eligible areas listed above will automatically receive this renewable award.

**Awards are selective based on review and are not guaranteed. Students who have participated in Advanced Placement, Cambridge, International Baccalaureate, and/or dual credit coursework, and who meet the weighted GPA requirement, will be considered for scholarships without qualifying test scores. A comprehensive academic review considers the number of previously mentioned coursework types a student completes in high school compared with the number of courses their school offers. Students who have participated in Advanced Placement, Cambridge, International Baccalaureate, and/or dual credit coursework, and who meet the weighted GPA requirement, will be considered for scholarships without qualifying test scores.
The First-Time Freshman Border Benefit cannot be combined with the Grawemeyer Scholarship, Regional Scholars Award, National Scholars Program or National Merit finalist scholarship.
Accepted transfers from the Border Benefit Award eligible areas listed above will automatically receive this renewable award.
