National Student Exchange
National Student Exchange (NSE) allows you to study away at one of nearly 200 colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The program provides a great opportunity to take courses and engage in programs not offered at U of L; to takes classes with different professors; to experience college life in a new place; to scout out graduate/professional schools and potential career options; and to meet new people—all while paying U of L tuition.
In order to participate in NSE, you must complete an application through the campus office; be enrolled at U of L as a full-time student; be in good standing at U of L; and have a 2.5 cumulative GPA (as well as a 2.5 in the semester immediately preceding exchange). Additional requirements and restrictions may apply, and the NSE coordinator will inform you of those.

Officer Complaints
It is our firm intent that the University Police serve as a model professional law enforcement agency. To accomplish this role, it is vital that we maintain the trust of the University community. During the delivery of essential community services, there may be an occasion wherein conflict results . . . sometimes to the point where a complaint is generated against a member of the University Police.
To deal with such matters effectively, we designated internal affairs officers to respond to and investigate complaints. A complaint lodged against a University Police employee will be dealt with in a professional manner, giving full consideration to the protection of the rights of all parties involved. Any member of the University community having a complaint related to the conduct of a University Police employee should contact the on-duty supervisor at 502-852-6111 as soon as possible after the incident. Or, you may choose to use the Officer Complaint Form. After internal matters have been investigated, findings and recommendations are reported to the Director of Public Safety, who then bears the responsibility for resolving the complaint in a timely manner. If requested by the complainant, the decision by the Director of Public Safety can be appealed to the Vice President for Business Affairs.
FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (often referred to as FERPA, or the Buckley Amendment) requires that students have the right to inspect and review most education records maintained about them by the University of Louisville, and, in many cases, decide whether or not a third party may obtain information from them. No one will have access to a student's education records, nor will their contents be disclosed, without the written consent of the student, except as provided by the Act.

To avoid violations of FERPA rules:
- DO NOT post students' grades in any form or listing in public. Use Blackboard to post student grades.
- DO NOT ever link the name of a student with that student's social security number or student identification number in any public manner.
- DO NOT leave graded tests in public for students to pick up.
- DO NOT circulate a printed class list with the student name and social security number or student identification number as an attendance roster.
- DO NOT discuss the progress of any student with anyone other than the student (including parents).
- DO NOT provide anyone with lists of students enrolled in your classes for any commercial purpose.
- DO NOT provide anyone with student schedules or assist anyone in finding a student on campus. Inquiries should be directed to the Registrar's Office (502) 852-6522 or after business hours to Public Safety (502) 852-6111.

Fire, on college campuses, claims lives and causes an extensive amount of property damage. Most lives can be saved by using common sense in a fire emergency.
The University of Louisville urges you to follow these practical steps to protect yourself while working, living, or learning on campus.
Basic Fire Safety Survival Tips:
- Sleep with bedroom doors closed: closed doors provide protection against heat and smoke.
- Teach everyone in your household to recognize the sound of your smoke alarm.
- Test doors before opening them with the back of your hand. If it is hot, do not open.
- Use windows as alternative exits.
- Crawl low under smoke.
- Call the fire department.
- If your clothes catch fire: Stop, Drop, and Roll.
- Cool a burn with cool running water.

Transfer of Credit Policies
The University of Louisville (UofL) may award transfer credits for educational experiences, courses, degrees, or credentials completed by students at other higher education institutions. UofL will publish clear, complete and accessible information about the policies and procedures for awarding credit for transfer and extra-institutional learning, consistent with procedures established by the U.S. Department of Education, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
