Department of Radiology

Dr. Gregory PostelWe appreciate your interest in the Department of Radiology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. After reviewing the information included in this webpage we would welcome the opportunity to discuss with you in detail the many developments taking place in our department.

We continue to have a vital partnership with the University of Louisville Hospital in the replacement of clinical equipment. This year we installed our second 3.0 Tesla Verio MR scanner so that we are now able to perform high field strength MR exams in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. We are in the process of acquiring a dual source CT scanner and a SPECT CT scanner. The acquisition of imaging research equipment is also an important agenda. This year we were proud to open a new small animal imaging core facility which houses a 9.4 Tesla MR scanner as well as our micro PET scanner, our micro CT scanner and two optical imaging devices. We are also pleased to be in the construction phase of our large animal imaging facility where yet another 3.0 Tesla MR scanner will be placed early next year.

Our faculty remains stable and is growing. This year we welcomed the arrival of two new body imaging faculty as well as one Ph.D. faculty member whose interests include radiochemistry, cancer imaging and imaging related to infectious disease processes. This fall we will welcome the arrival of an additional general radiology faculty member as well.

Our research mission continues to move forward with an increasing number of faculty and residents participating actively in projects related to cancer, infectious disease, cardiac disease and contrast agent development. The department is also active in numerous clinical trials.

As always, we are interested in hearing from well qualified individuals who seek residency training or faculty positions in clinical or research endeavors.

Sincerely,

Gregory C. Postel, M.D.
