University of Louisville
Letter from the Chairman
Thank you for your interest in the Department of Radiology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. We hope that the information included in our web page will give you an insight into the many developments taking place in our department.
In the next year we will be installing a second 3.0 T MR scanner and our 9th CT scanner. We have recently replaced several other CT scanners and have a new PET/CT fusion scanner in place. Two vascular rooms are being replaced in the coming year, one of which will open this fall. Our new state of the art breast care facility is now complete and rivals any center of its kind. We have moved to our second generation of PACS systems and are preparing for a RIS and voice recognition conversion this Fall. A new outpatient radiology facility will also open in the Spring of 2008.
Faculty recruitment has been active. In the next twelve months we will welcome new faculty members in the sections of musculoskeletal radiology, nuclear medicine, neuroradiology, body imaging, mammography and interventional radiology. Our faculty profile will give you an idea of the diverse educational backgrounds of our faculty members which I feel facilitates a well-rounded teaching environment.
Our research mission continues to expand in several areas. Molecular imaging, optical imaging and non-invasive cardiac imaging are currently our strengths but other areas are being developed as well. We will be recruiting three new PhD faculty to add to our abilities in this area in the coming year. The department will open a comprehensive animal imaging department in the Spring of 2008.
We have enjoyed the process of preparing this site and hope that you will find it informative. We are always interested in hearing from well-qualified individuals who seek residency training or faculty positions for either clinical or academic endeavors.
Sincerely,
Gregory C. Postel, M.D.
Chairman & Professor
