Pediatric Pulmonology


Under the leadership of Dr. Nemr Eid, the Norton Children's Hospital pulmonary program has been ranked among the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

The UofL pediatric pulmonology team provides comprehensive care of lung diseases over the entire pediatric age group at the UofL Physicians- Pediatric Pulmonology clinical office, which include:

Pediatric Pulmonary Center This center specializes in caring for children who have any of a wide variety of respiratory disorders. Careful consideration is given to prescribe the best possible method of therapy following nationally accepted guidelines where applicable for treating: infantile wheezing, chronic lung disease (bronchopulmonary dysplasia), upper airway obstruction, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, pulmonary mycosis, pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease.

Cystic Fibrosis Center One of 120 centers in the United States accredited by the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, we provide diagnosis and multidisciplinary specialized care for cystic fibrosis patients.

Childhood Asthma Care and Education Center This center offers comprehensive, state-of-the-art, therapeutic strategies to children with all stages of asthma severity, including the most severe cases.

Technology Dependent Center Children on home ventilators and those who have a tracheotomy or who require oxygen are followed. This center is directed by Dr. Ronald Morton.

Pulmonary Function Laboratory interprets and performs pulmonary functions tests in infants and children, spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, methacholine challenge test, exercise challenge test, indirect calorimetry, multi-channel pneumocardiogram, incentive spirometry and noninvasive oxygen monitoring.
