Prof. Gibson edits new work

Prof. John Gibson edited the book, “The Philosophy of Poetry,” published this month by Oxford University Press. The book brings together philosophers of art, language, and mind to expose and address the array of problems poetry raises for philosophy.

Alex O’Keefe wins Honors Council award

Alex O'Keefe, University Honors Program, was recognized by the National Collegiate Honors Council with a 2015 Award for Administrative Excellence.

Luke Buckman wins Advising Award
Luke Buckman, Assistant Director for Student Programming and Development in the University Honors Program, was recognized recently with the Provost’s Award for Exemplary Advising in the Professional Advisor category. Since then, Luke has been selected to receive a 2015 Certificate of Merit from the National Academic Advising Association.

Did You Know


Marjorie Mattingly Samuels, the woman behind the naming of Maker’s Mark, the bottle design and the brand’s trademarked dripping red wax, graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences with a degree in chemistry in 1933. Samuels was the first woman to be inducted into the Kentucky Distillers Association’s Bourbon Hall of Fame, and the lone inductee last year.
