Students are encouraged to study abroad through a pre-approved UofL-affiliated program. If you plan to study abroad with a program that UofL is not affiliated with, you must complete the direct enrollment process.
Direct enrollment in a foreign institution is approved on a limited basis. Please understand that if UofL has an existing agreement with your requested foreign institution through a third party or exchange, university policy states that arrangement takes precedence. Students who are unable to be accommodated through traditional third-party programs or exchanges may request to direct enroll in a foreign institution. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required for direct enroll requests.
The first step is to contact the Office of Study Abroad & International Travel with your request to direct enroll. In this email, please indicate that this is a direct enrollment request and include the name of the foreign institution.
Please understand that if we have an existing arrangement with your requested foreign institution through a third party or exchange, university policy states that arrangement takes precedence.
Note that it is the student's responsibility to submit an application for admission to the selected foreign institution by the proper deadlines.
