Meet with a Peer Ambassador to begin the study abroad process |
Encourage the use of Peer Ambassadors as a beginning step |
Schedule appointment with a Study Abroad Advisor once program/country has been selected |
Explain university policies and procedures |
Complete and submit UofL OSAIT paperwork by designated deadline |
Create a program budget |
Meet with department contacts to ensure foreign classes transfer |
Suggest where to find available scholarships |
Meet with Financial Aid to finalize budget |
Explain course pre-approval process |
Submit program provider application |
Sell CISI Travel Insurance |
Pay program application fees and/or deposits |
Provide general guidance on applying for a passport |
Apply for scholarships |
Advise on Travel Warning countries |
Research destination facts and cultural norms |
Provide information about UofL’s Campus Health Services |
Familiarize yourself with program requirements, expectations, and deadlines |
Hold mandatory pre-departure orientations |
Purchase CISI Travel Insurance |
Be accessible while you are abroad |
Obtain a passport and/or visa (as needed) |
In conjunction with CISI, monitor safety situations abroad and provide immediate information |
Attend a pre-departure orientation on Reading Day of the semester before your planned departure |
Process foreign transcripts once they arrive [arrival takes 8 – 12 weeks] |
Contact the OSAIT if anything should change while abroad or if you need help |
Hold re-entry workshops and follow-up |
Attend re-entry workshop upon return to UofL or other requirements |
