Who is eligible: Rising 2nd-year medical students are eligible for participation in the Summer Research Scholar Program.  Students cannot be in academic difficulty or involved in a concurrent summer activity.

The Summer Research Scholar Program (SRSP) provides a ten-week summer research experience to rising 2nd-year medical students. The goal of the SRSP is to provide medical students who are interested in research the opportunity to participate in a research project and expose them to the research environment of an academic medical center and the activities of academic physicians and scientists.

Because the SRSP requires an appreciable time commitment to the research project, Summer Research Scholars will not be able to participate in another full-time activity (e.g. domestic or international clinical experience, pre-matriculation program, other summer job, etc.) during the ten weeks of the SRSP.

Trainees must present the results of their research at Research!Louisville event in the Fall, tentatively scheduled for September or October 2024.
