Amy Dwyer, MD, MS
Steering Committee Vice Chair, Louisville Women in Medicine & Science
Dr. Kaitlin Gordon serves as the Steering Committee Chair for University of Louisville School of Medicine’s Women in Medicine and Science (LWIMS) and Dr. Dwyer serves as the Steering Committee Vice Chair. Together, representing the UL School of Medicine chapter, they share the designation as representatives to the Group of Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) at the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC). The Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) is an Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) group, which advances the full and successful participation and inclusion of women within academic medicine by addressing gender equity, recruitment and retention, awards and recognition, and career advancement. GWIMS activities include faculty development seminars and leadership awards for women, ongoing updates on the state of women in academic medicine, and development of informational tool-kits. At UL SOM, LWIMS has worked toward these goals through sponsorship in speaking and networking events for women faculty, recognizing the work of women researchers at the UL School of Medicine and mentoring women students, residents and fellows. Membership is free and ideas are always welcome. You can register as a member using the button below, and email Dr. Gordon and/or Dr. Dwyer at kaitlin.shumate@louisville.edu / amy.dwyer@louisville.edu, (respectively) if you would like additional information.
