Digital Sciences - ELEMENTS

Digital Sciences – Elements is a new platform the University is using to support our faculty in showcasing and reporting their work and connecting with collaborators. All Faculty should now take initial steps to validate their data in Elements, which has many benefits, including enhanced visibility and connection through two key platforms: 1) Discovery profiles for research and scholarly activity 2) Enhanced UofL directory profiles as part of the Web Improvement Project

Access and populate your Elements profile at elements.louisville.edu (using your ULINK credentials). Training and resources covering program features, profile completion, and copies of the slides from the videos can be found on BLACKBOARD under the course Elements Implementation Training (in the “Exploring Elements” folder). Alternatively, watch 3 short training videos (~15 minutes) via direct links below (use ctrl-enter to access):

  1. Explore Elements: Overview
  2. Introduction to Elements and Discovery
  3. First Steps

As explained in the videos, initial steps to take in Elements are:

  1. Claim your digital identifiers (e.g. ORCiD, SCOPUS) and publications
  2. Complete your bios:
  • Overview (main), Research, Teaching, and Professional Activities
  • A. Clinical faculty
    • Include your Clinical Affiliation in top line of the Overview Bio
    • Add link to your Clinical Profile

    B. Faculty with Laboratories

      • Add link to Laboratory profile

HELPFUL HINT: When you start updating your profile, if you have an ORCiD digital identifier, make sure you claim it first before updating your research publications to save time.
