May 4, 2020 - Peds Faculty Meeting Recap

  • Really hard to furlough 34 staff members.
  • $167,855 target to save.  Only the 1% reduction in pay group counted toward the target savings.
  • Furloughs are anticipated to end on July 2.
  • All furloughs are temporary.
  • Temp employees were mandatory to release; but they should be able to return in early July.
  • During the furloughs, the Chair Office will have a few staff members who were effected; however you can reach out to any of the following for assistance:
    • Ruby Keith can help with administrative functions
    • Dianna Stover can help with Microsoft Teams, marketing, PR, media requests
    • Andrei Trocan, Jared Neal and Joy Jeffries can help with finance and accounting, including travel needs
    • Jen Morgan and Ashley Currie are available for faculty affairs needs

Please share with Kimberly Whitt/Ruby Keith.  If you have no administrative support, feel free to have academic items directed to someone in the Chair’s office for academic needs and to the Practice Manager for clinical needs.
  • It is important for furloughed employees to not engage in any work-related tasks while out of the office. They can not check emails or answer work-related phone calls or texts.

Media Requests | Dr. Kim Boland

Please make sure Dianna Stover is made aware of media requests related to clinical, academic, or research topics.  The department must submit reports including media relations, community engagement and government relations to the university.  Some of this data is used for accreditation purposes and other funding related reporting. Dianna will continue to coordinate with the UofL Office of Government Relations and School of Medicine PR team just as she did while we were affiliated with ULP, please wait for her response before speaking or presenting to a government related group.  You can copy her on email exchanges with the Norton PR team, she does not need a separate communication.  Please reach out to her with any questions or concerns.

AAP Dues | Dr. Kim Boland

  • For dually employed faculty - AAP dues are to be paid by providers and the receipts should be sent to Norton Practice Managers for reimbursement by Norton.  Please include your Kentucky Chapter dues, as there will not be a group Department of Pediatrics Kentucky Chapter payment made.
  • Leased faculty - there are no changes to the way your dues are to be paid, your UBM/ administrative support staff will pay using a UofL ProCard. Please include your Kentucky Chapter dues, as there will not be a group Department of Pediatrics Kentucky Chapter payment made.

Clinical Operations | Dr. Jenn Evans

  • Clinics should be back to fully open schedules to book with either telemed or in person visits.
  • Telemed visits can be done in exam rooms to maintain social distancing between other staff in the clinic.
  • If you cannot maintain social distancing in the clinic, please reach out to your Practice Manager for assistance.
  • There are a lot of organizations reaching out to ask Norton about the ability to provide telehealth services.
    • The more telehealth we can do, the better but in person visits should be done when a provider feels that an exam is necessary.
