Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Pediatric Hospital Medicine

How long have you worked in Pediatrics?   7th year post-residency, 1st year at UofL

What is your favorite thing about your job?  Connecting with my patients and their families during a hospitalization is the best part of my job. During a time of uncertainty and worry for many, I feel lucky to be entrusted with their care and welcome making shared decisions as a family-medical team.

What is your hometown?
Charleston, WV

What is your favorite movie?
That’s a tough one. It’s a toss up between Sound of Music and Good Will Hunting (I know those aren’t at all similar)

Tell us about your family:
My husband, Bryan, and I met in Louisville 5 years ago and ventured out west to San Francisco, CA for my fellowship. After fellowship we moved to Phoenix, AZ. When we had our daughter Marlo, who is turning one this month, we decided we wanted to move back to Louisville to set down roots. We are close with our immediate and extended families in WV, KY, and DC and are so happy to be closer to them.

Do you have pets?
We have a playful and loving dog named Cocoa. She’s an Aussiedoodle, an Australian Shepherd and Poodle mix.

What are you doing, where are you going, for your next vacation?Bethany Woomer and Marlo
We’ve thrown all our vacation plans out due to the pandemic. But when we can travel freely again, we want to go to Banff, Canada for some fresh air, hiking, and pampering.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A doctor.  I wish I had a more exciting answer but that’s the truth according to my parents.

What is one of your proudest accomplishments?
Being selected as the Robert G Spurling resident of the year when I graduated residency in 2014. I was stunned and am still so appreciative of that honor!

What is your favorite quote?
“We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, more laughter. I definitely want to contribute to that.” – Ellen DeGeneres

What was your first job?
I was a lifeguard for 5 summers in high school/college and loved it.

What is your favorite ice cream?
Rocky Road
