April Faculty Meeting Recap

  • Thanks to all for their selflessness during this time and stepping up as needed and thank you for staying home and helping to flatten the curve when possible
  • Much is getting done through Zoom and MS Teams virtual meetings (if you need help, contact Dianna Stover)
  • Telehealth is being utilized in the outpatient areas and they are working through that for inpatient now as well; please make yourselves available for any appointments that need to be in person if asked
  • Leadership is working through issues with payments for telehealth; Susan Friedrich and Amy Sugg are first line on that however Jenn Evans, Kim Boland or In Kim can help making connections if you have questions
  • An extension was given for the Norton Training modules; due by the end of the month; does not work so well on Mac Computers although someone indicated to use chrome and that should help
  • All annual reviews are due to SOM Faculty Affairs office by the month; please get those done and turned into Jen Morgan; for chiefs, Dr. Boland is doing those mostly virtually and should complete them soon
  • Promotions, Periodic Career Reviews are moving ahead; if you receive a request for a letter, please respond
  • There is a UofL Hiring Freeze; they stopped the Provost search, Dean and Chair searches etc.; since our positions are backed by Norton Healthcare, our recruitments are expected to move forward.  Requests for pay increases, reclassifications, etc. will not be reviewed at this time
  • Norton Healthcare is running behind on the contracts they are processing; they are working on them in order of hire date; July hires processed, now working on August hires (which are most of ours); if there is a special need and someone needs a contract (like buying a house), let us know
  • For leased faculty (you should know who you are – those in phased retirement, have an appointment with another dept like our Med-Peds faculty, and a few other), you do not have to do anything regarding benefits; you still have everything through UofL; you should not be receiving a check from Norton Healthcare unless you are Moonlighting
  • For Norton Healthcare contract providers, you were automatically signed up for retirement, you don’t have to do anything; you should check everything
  • Anyone who has personal health concern that went through UofL Employee Health instead of Norton Healthcare, please let us know so this info can be tracked; if you went through Norton Employee Health we have that info
  • The Office of Medical Education made adjustments in some scheduling which has been helpful as it relates to the residents and helping to cover
  • There have been very few COVID cases at Norton Children's Hospital; Norton Healthcare is working on a plan to use hospital beds in the event they are needed at peak
  • No one really knows when the peak of COVID-19 will be; maybe mid-May; new information comes from Russ Cox video updates for Norton Healthcare; many communications are coming through and hard to read all
