Pediatric Emergency Medicine
How long have you worked in Pediatrics? Will be 4 yrs in July
What is your favorite thing about your job? My favorite thing is the opportunity to be a part of this group and to support them and their dedication to their patients, improving the health of children overall. Their accomplishments are truly amazing. Everyone knows someone who brings their child to one of the Norton ED’s at some point and when they mention the providers name and the excellent care they received, I proudly say ‘yeah, that’s one of mine’. :)
What is your hometown? Louisville
What is your favorite movie? Just one?? I have several. War Room, The Notebook, You’ve Got Mail…sappy chick flicks mostly although I’m also very prone to watch anything car related.
Tell us about your family: My husband, Michael, and I have two children, Blake (29) and Kourtney (24). My son is married (Brandy) and has given me three wonderful grandchildren, Aiden (10), Jace (6) and Elana (4)
Do you have pets? (If yes, what kind? How many?) Anyone that knows me, knows that I am such an animal lover and advocate. Ninja is our 10 yr old Yorkie and Mabel is our 2 yr old German Shepherd. We also have a 3 yr old rescue kitty, Fuzz Lightyear aka Big Kitty.
What are you doing, where are you going, for your next vacation? I’ll be doing our 20th bi-annual girls trip (mothers and daughters) to Gatlinburg soon and my husband and I are hoping for a week on the beach in Destin. My husband and I will also be participants again in the National Street Rod Association car show this summer entering two of our cars, a 1977 Corvette and a 1968 Chevelle.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher, wife, mother, grandmother. (Three out of four! Life is good!)
What is one of your proudest accomplishments? Career wise- I’ve worked hard to be where I am. I’m proud of that and thankful for the values and work ethic taught to me by my father, a coal miner in his early years and a machinist later in life. As far as personally - in a day and age where marriage seems to be disposable to some, I’m again thankful to my parents for their example. I’m extremely proud of my 38 yr marriage to my best friend, my high school sweetheart who I married during my senior year of high school.
What is your favorite quote? “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Phil. 4:13 and “You’re not too old and it’s not too late”.
What was your first job? I started working at the age of 15 through my high school co-op program as the part time office receptionist for Pepsi Cola General Bottlers where I quickly learned not to refer to all soft drinks as ‘cokes’! (That rivalry is very real!) I have zero plans to retire…ever….I hope to ‘retread’ instead and work in real estate about 10 yrs from now.
What is your favorite ice cream? I actually do not eat a lot of ice cream but don’t ask me about Hershey’s chocolate…totally different story. When I do have it though, I’m sure most think vanilla is boring but I say you have no imagination then! Be creative….you can build any concoction imaginable with a vanilla base! Be a kid again and try it!
