Dr. In Kim joined the University of Louisville in 2002.  He serves as Executive Vice Chair in the Department of Pediatrics and Executive Medical Director of Norton Children’s Medical Group, Director of the Center for Health Process Innovation, Co-Director of the Business and Leadership Distinction Track,  and Program Director of the UofL MD-MBA program.

Additional roles and accomplishments include:

  • Internationally recognized leader in helium-oxygen therapies for pediatric respiratory diseases
  • Peer-reviewer for several major medical journals: Pediatrics, Cochrane Database Review, Journal of Pediatrics, Respiratory Care, Pediatric Emergency Care, Journal of Pediatric Intensive Care, and Acta Paediatrica.
  • Past-Chair, American Academy of Pediatrics Committee, National Section on Emergency Medicine (SOEM) Fellowship Directors (2017-2019)
  • Regularly invited speaker for the intersection of business and medicine 
  • Received Outstanding Oral Presentation Award for Graduate Medical Education, American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC). Teaching the Business of Medicine Across the Continuum of Medical Education
  • Received multiple teaching and mentoring awards
  • Trainees of his pediatric emergency medicine program have won 5 national awards for best research at the American Academy of Pediatrics
  • Authored or co-authored 24 peer-reviewed publications, 5 book chapters, 38 national/international abstract presentations, and developed 3 web sites.
  • Former Vice Chair – Pediatrics Clinical Operations (University of Louisville School of Medicine)

 

Dr. Kim is a native of upstate New York and graduated from Cornell University.  He attended medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College and completed his residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA and fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He also has a master’s degree in Business Administration from UofL.
