Program Overview

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Fellowship Training Program is a fully accredited, three-year training program that seeks to develop physicians to prepare them for a career in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. This program is open to all eligible applicants regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age.

Training Program

We focus on Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education  (ACGME) core competencies to provide excellent patient care, acquire a thorough knowledge base of the practice along with practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice. Fellows in training gain further experience by rotating through many of the other Louisville hospitals.

Our faculty provide unique individual mentoring for continued growth of internal medicine skills, development of gastroenterological cognitive/procedural skills, and clinical/bench research in subspecialty areas of nutrition, IBD, hepatology, gastrointestinal motility, therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasonography, and liver transplantation.

Visiting rotations for Internal Medicine residents from other programs are welcome. We only accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS^®).
