Overview

Program Director: Courtney R. Schadt, M.D.
Program Coordinator: Janna Winstead

The goal of our training program is to provide the opportunity for trainees to become able to deliver superior specialized care for patients with diseases of the skin, the appendages, and the mucous membranes.

The training program in dermatology provides a broad and varied educational experience, and is open to all eligible applicants regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age. Educational activities occur over a 3-year period.

The experience is progressive with more responsibility, regularly scheduled conferences, seminars, as well as supervised clinical care of patients. Dermatopathology and Dermatologic Surgery are integral parts of our residency program

Updates on 2023-2024 Application Cycle

Information for Students Applying to Dermatology

Please check back here regularly for updates to the application process as well as guidelines and answers to common questions. A statement with additional information has also been released by the Association of Professors of Dermatology Residency Program Directors Section.

Program Signaling

Our program is participating this year in signaling through ERAS®, and we strongly encourage all applicants to do so as well. While we strive to perform holistic reviews of all applications, given the sheer number, those applicants who provide us with silver or gold signals are more likely to receive an interview invitation.

Coordinated Interview Invite Release

We will be participating in coordinated interview invite release and will be extending interview offers on December 4, 2023.

Pre- and post-interview communication

Before and during interview season, applicants are asked to refrain from contacting us to express interest or provide application updates prior to interviews, except in truly exceptional circumstances (e.g. couples matching updates, major life events that impact preferences). Questions about our program that cannot be easily answered by available materials (website, social media, etc.) can be directed to our coordinator, Layla Phillips.

Post-interview communication of preference – including "letters of intent" and thank you letters - should not be sent, as these do impact decision making in the match and add unnecessary pressures on applicants.

Interviews

We will be conducting virtual interviews on February 9, 2024 (afternoon) and February 10, 2024 (morning).
