Fellows Benefits

VACATION

  • Four (4) weeks of paid vacation per academic year, for which one (1) week is over the Christmas or New Year’s Holiday, two (2) weeks are contiguous, and one (1) week is contiguous.


BOOKSTORE


LICENSURE

  • The Kentucky renewal licensure fees are paid by the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.


EDUCATIONAL ALLOWANCES


NATIONAL CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE

  • Each fellow will have allotted time to attend either National American College of Cardiology or American Heart Association conference of their choosing (with preference general given to senior fellows).

  • Each fellow will have up to $700 to travel to an educational conference in order to present original research or a poster


MEALS

  • Free lunch is available in the physicians’ lounge at UofL Health - Jewish Hospital.


PARKING

  • Free parking is provided at all three hospital sites.

TRANSPORTATION

  • All University of Louisville students, staff, and faculty members may present their Cardinal Cards to ride free on TARC (Transit Authority of the River City) buses.


INSURANCE

  • The University offers a complete package of insurance coverage for our fellows and their families, including health, dental, vision, prescription, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Supplemental Life, Short Term Disability and Long Term Care. Detailed plan information can be found on the University of Louisville Human Resources site.

 

MALPRACTICE

  • Professional liability insurance is provided by the University of Louisville or by affiliated hospitals through contract agreement.


PREVENTATIVE HEALTH

  • Hepatitis B immunization, an annual TB skin test, and flu shots are required and furnished free of charge to all fellows.
