Fellows Benefits
VACATION
Four (4) weeks of paid vacation (28 calendar days) per academic year, for which two (2) weeks is contiguous.
PATERNITY/MATERNITY LEAVE
- 100% of salary for up to six (6) weeks (42 calendar days), per event. More information can be found on the Leave of Absence Policy and Procedure.
BOOKSTORE
A 10% discount is available on books and supplies with a valid University of Louisville Identification Card.
LICENSURE
The Kentucky renewal licensure fees are paid by the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. Initial license fees are not covered.
EDUCATIONAL ALLOWANCES
Each fellow will have free access to CardioSource®, as well as multiple other free online resources provided by the University of Louisville Kornhauser Library.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE
Each fellow will have allotted time to attend either National American College of Cardiology or American Heart Association conference of their choosing (with preference general given to senior fellows).
- Each fellow will have up to $1,500 to travel to an educational conference in order to present original research or a poster
MEALS
Free lunch is available in the physicians’ lounge at UofL Health - Jewish Hospital.
PARKING
Free parking is provided at all three hospital sites.
MEMBERSHIPS
All fellows are registered as Associated Members of the American College of Cardiology and receive weekly editions of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and its affiliates..
ATHLETICS
Fellows are eligible to purchase student athletic tickets, which are offered at reduced rates through the Athletics Department.
Fellows also have free access to the Health Sciences Center Fitness Center. Additionally, for a fee they can use all other UofL athletic facilities including the new Student Recreation Center, Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, and Ralph Wright Natatorium, which are located on the main campus. Lastly, fellows are eligible to join Planet Fitness at a discounted rate.
TRANSPORTATION
All University of Louisville students, staff, and faculty members may present their Cardinal Cards to ride free on TARC (Transit Authority of the River City) buses.
INSURANCE
The University offers a complete package of insurance coverage for our fellows and their families, including health, dental, vision, prescription, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Supplemental Life, Short Term Disability and Long Term Care. Detailed plan information can be found on the University of Louisville Human Resources site.
MALPRACTICE
Professional liability insurance is provided by the University of Louisville or by affiliated hospitals through contract agreement.
PREVENTATIVE HEALTH
Hepatitis B immunization, an annual TB skin test, and flu shots are required and furnished free of charge to all fellows.
