Louisville, Ky. (July 25, 2024) – McConnell Scholars Allie Rose Phillips (’25) and Macy Waddle (’26) will lead the UofL student body this year as members of the University’s “Top 4.”

Top 4 is the name given to the UofL Student Government Association’s Executive Cabinet, which consists of the Student Body President, Executive Vice President, Academic Vice President, and the Services Vice President.

Phillips, the incoming Student Body President, has planned an ambitious student-centered agenda focused on the following tenets:

  • Building a culture of campus-safety
  • Improving student success on campus by growing academic and workplace resources
  • Improving resources for nurturing the physical and mental health of students

“I am so excited to serve as the SGA Student Body President! During my time at UofL, I have made friendships that will last a lifetime and a support system that is second to none.” Phillips said. “These friends, and countless faculty and staff at UofL, supported me and pushed me to run for this position and I will be forever grateful for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get to work to make the UofL campus better for current and future Cardinals! Go Cards!”

A native of Manchester, Ky., Phillips is pursuing a degree in political science. She is a Henry Vogt Scholar, a member of the Honors Program, and has served as the Director of Programming of the Student Activities Board and President of the Student Organization for Alumni Relations.

Waddle, the incoming Academic Vice President, ran her campaign based on the following platform:

  • Cultivate a stronger Cardinal Community connection
  • Equip “non-traditional” students with pathways to academic success
  • Fulfill UofL’s academic promise to students

A native of Mount Washington, Ky., Waddle is pursuing a degree in political science on a global studies and international affairs track and a minor in Spanish. She is an Honors Scholar and the Secretary of Chi Omega women’s fraternity. Waddle’s previous leadership roles also include serving as Outreach Chair for the McConnell Scholars Program and the Animal Welfare Committee Director of the Engage Lead Serve Board.

“The McConnell Center is incredibly proud of these distinguished young women and their willingness to lead the UofL student body,” said McConnell Center Director Dr. Gary Gregg. “They join a longstanding tradition amongst McConnell Scholars to serve their fellow classmates and exemplify the best of the McConnell Center’s three pillars: Leadership, Scholarship, and Service.”

Phillips and Waddle won their positions after running campus-wide campaigns during the Spring 2024 semester.
