(January 21, 2025) LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman has named McConnell Scholar alumnus Kevin Grout ('16) his new chief of staff effective January 14, 2025.

Grout, of Florence, KY., previously served as Communications Director and Senior Advisor to the Attorney General. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office, Grout worked for then-U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and RunSwitch, a Louisville-based PR company.

"Kevin has worked tirelessly to help share the good work of our Office," said General Coleman in a press release issued by the Attorney General’s Office. "His strategic leadership has served the people of Kentucky well in our first year. I look forward to seeing what Kevin will help our team accomplish in this new role as we build a better and safer Kentucky."

Grout earned bachelor's degrees in political science and history from the University of Louisville in 2016. During his time as a McConnell Scholar, Grout served as a legislative intern for U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell in his Washington, D.C. office. Grout also served as a legislative intern for Kentucky State Senator David Givens and was a research intern for The Heritage Foundation.

“I know Kevin is doing great work for Kentucky’s Attorney General and the people of the Commonwealth,” said Dr. Gary Gregg McConnell Center Director. “I am proud to call a student and McConnell Scholar.”
