McConnell Scholars lead the way in UofL’s student government for 2025-26
Three of the four highest leadership positions in the University of Louisville’s Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2025-26 academic year will be held by McConnell Scholars. Macy Waddle ’26, Grant Avis ’26, and Kathleen Price ’27 were elected as student body president, services vice president, and academic vice president, respectively.
Macy Waddle, a political science major from Mt. Washington, Kentucky, focuses on global studies and international affairs with minors in Spanish and political marketing. Grant Avis, from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is pursuing degrees in history and political science. Kathleen Price, a pre-law student from Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, also studies political science.
Reflecting on her election, Waddle credited the McConnell Center for inspiring her leadership journey. “Without the advice and wisdom from McConnell Center staff and former scholars, I would never have found the confidence to run for a position like this in the first place. The McConnell Center is truly a place where future leaders come to thrive, and my personal experience is a testament to that,” she said. “I am incredibly excited to lead UofL and can’t wait to see what the next year holds!”
“It is so fulfilling to see how our students are respected by their peers and appreciated by the faculty and staff of the university,” said McConnell Center Director Gary Gregg.
