McConnell Scholars make history with all-female council
Louisville, Ky. (April 25, 2024) – The McConnell Scholar body recently elected an all-female McConnell Scholars Council for the 2024-2025 school year.
The McConnell Scholars are led by the Leadership Council, which acts as a liaison between the students and the McConnell Center administration.
“To be elected to a leadership team of a leadership program like ours is an extraordinary achievement,” said McConnell Center Director Dr. Gary Gregg. “I look forward to partnering with these women as we work together to continue to improve the McConnell Scholars experience on campus.”
The 2024-2025 council includes the following:
- Chair: Camryn McPherson (’25)
- Vice-Chair: Megan Crowley (’25)
- Secretary: Riley Maddox (’27)
- Service: Emilia Perez ('27)
- Outreach Chair: Kara Beth Poe (’27)
- Alumni Relations Chair: Alli Geiger (’26)
- Health and Wellness Chair: Jillian Sarver (’27)
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair: Kelsey Raymer (’26)
This is the first time in the McConnell Scholars Program's history that the council has been comprised entirely of women.
Each year, McConnell Scholars hold elections in April to choose members of the McConnell Scholars Council for the following academic year. The first formal council was established in December 1994.
The McConnell Scholars Program is a prestigious leadership and scholarship program at the University of Louisville open to graduating Kentucky high school seniors with a strong demonstrated record of leadership, scholarship, and service. Around ten students are added each year with a maximum of 40 McConnell Scholars in the program at one time.
