Student Requests

Our office uses the Global Cardinal Portal to process student requests. Below are the types of requests available through your portal.

To access your request page in the portal, sign in using your ULink credentials. Then navigate to the third tab on your profile, “Student Requests.”

The requests available to you are based on your status in the Global Cardinal Portal (for example, initial arrival, active student, or OPT). 

Immigration Check-In

If you have an initial Form I-20 and have entered the U.S., you must submit a copy of your visa and I-94 and, provide your U.S. address.

ISSS Letter Request

Request a Family Member Invitation Letter, Social Security Letter, or signed Kentucky Driver’s License and Personal Identification Application.

Travel Signature Request

If you plan to travel internationally and your travel signature on your form I-20 has expired, you will need to request a Travel signature. Travel signatures are good for a period of 12 months. Please see the Travel Page  for more information.

Update Financial Information

If you have a significant change in your financial support, you must upload evidence of the updated funding and request a new Form I-20.

Add F-2 Dependent

If you would like to add F‑2 dependents, you must upload each dependent’s passport and financial documentation. You must demonstrate an additional $7,500 in financial support for each dependent added.

Dependent Information Update

Use this request if your F‑2 dependent needs their information changed.

Delete Dependent

Use this request If you would like to remove a dependent from your SEVIS record.

Reduced Course Load (RCL)

If you are eligible for a Reduced Course Load (RCL), you must submit your request prior to dropping classes. For more information, please visit the Maintaining Visa Status page.

Update Contact and Personal Information

Submit this request if your address, phone number, or other personal information has changed. Address updates must be reported to ISSS and USCIS within 10 days.

F-1 SEVIS Record Transfer Out

Use this request if you plan to transfer to another institution in the United States. Visit the Maintaining Visa Status page for more information.

Request Program Extension

Use this request to extend your end date of your academic program. You must submit this request before the program end date listed on your Form I‑20, and it must be approved by your advisor or department.

Request Optional Practical Training (OPT) Recommendation

Use this to request an Optional Practical Training (OPT) recommendation. You may submit this request up to 90 days before the program end date listed on your Form I‑20. Visit the OPT page for more information. 

Update Employer Information while on OPT

Use this request to report or update employer’s information while on OPT. You must update your employment information in the SEVP Portal within 10 days of any change.

Request STEM OPT Extension

Use this to request a STEM OPT extension recommendation. You may submit this request up to 90 days before your post‑completion OPT end date.

Request Curricular Practical Training (CPT)

Use this to request CPT. You must submit a CPT request each semester you plan to engage in CPT.

Request Change Education Level

Use this request if you are beginning a new program at a higher level after completing your current degree. Request must be submitted no later than 60 days following program end date.
