Dean Lingo appointed to Educational Professional Standards Board by Governor Beshear

Amy Lingo, Dean of the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) was recently appointed by Andy Beshear, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB). Lingo will represent post-secondary institutions and serve until June 30, 2023, when the term expires. 

“I’m incredibly honored to be a member of EPSB,” said Lingo. “This position is so important as we are establishing and maintaining standards for educators. This results in positively impacting future students in Kentucky.”

The Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) promotes student achievement by establishing and enforcing standards for preparation, certification, and ethical behavior for all professional educators in Kentucky. They are responsible for a multitude of activities including:

  • Establishing performance standards for preparation programs and practitioners
  • Accrediting educator preparation providers
  • Approving education preparation programs at colleges, universities, local school districts, and private contractors
  • Selecting assessments for teachers and administrators
  • Overseeing internship programs for new teachers and new principals
  • Administering Kentucky's National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification
  • Issuing, renewing, suspending, and revoking Kentucky certificates for professional school personnel
