We are excited to honor Dr. Terry Scott this week for his exceptional contributions to the field of emotional and behavioral disorders. Dr. Scott is a professor and distinguished scholar in the Department of Special Education, Early Childhood & Prevention Science in the College of Education and Human Development. He is also the Director of the Center for Instructional and Behavioral Research in Schools.
Recently, Dr. Scott was awarded the 2023 Outstanding Leadership Award by the Midwest Symposium for Leadership in Behavior Disorders. For the past 41 years, the Symposium has been dedicated to promoting professional and family leadership that enhances the lives of children and adolescents with emotional/behavioral disorders or related behavioral challenges. As a part of its mission, the Midwest Symposium recognizes exceptional individuals who have exhibited outstanding contributions to the field of emotional and behavioral disorders on the national level.
Dr. Scott was selected for this award based on his scholarship, teaching and service. He has shown extraordinary leadership both nationally and internationally through his scholarly work, which he disseminates through journals, research-to-practice deliverables, and in-person training. Additionally, he continues to serve as a teacher and mentor to future educators while remaining focused on positively impacting the lives of students and educators.
