The University of Louisville College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) welcomed an evening of staff camaraderie at Louisville Slugger Field on August 24, 2023. The event was coordinated through the efforts of Chandler Morse (21’), an Account Executive with the Louisville Bats and a proud alumnus of the sport administration program.

Morse’s journey from his time as a CEHD student to his reconnection with his alma mater showcases the power of connections. Morse graduated in December 2021 and then began his masters in sport administration. While earning his masters he worked as a graduate assistant for REACH at UofL. After encouragement from his professions in the Department of Health and Sport Science Gin Presley and Adam Cocco he landed an internship with the Louisville Bats in April 2023.

“At first, I didn’t have a concrete plan as to what I wanted to do with sports, but I knew I wanted to be there,” said Morse. “Professor Presley and Dr. Cocco, opened up the different pathways that SPAD can create.”

After navigating the stadium environment and gaining hands on experience Morse accepted his full-time position as an Account Executive with the Louisville Bats in July 2023. In his role, he works with groups to sell tickets. Connection and interaction have been a large part of his role and is what lead him to reconnect with the CEHD.

“My supervisor knew that I went to UofL and so with the help of another alum, I started going down my personal contact list. I reached out to student organizations, Greek life organizations, faculty, and staff and other colleges across campus,” said Morse. “We also had some UofL basketball players there thought a partnership with 502 Circle which was a great experience.”

Morse’s journey from CEHD student to being a driving force behind UofL Night at Slugger Field acts as a testament to the power of connection and the impact that alumni can have on their colleges.

Morse encourages any SPAD student to take opportunities. “My first plan wasn’t to work in baseball,” said Morse. “But I get to come into a stadium every day for work and I’m loving it.”
