Denise Cumberland, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development, is the recipient of the 2019 UofL Kentuckiana Metroversity Outstanding Faculty Member for Adult Learners Award.
The College of Education and Human Development is excited to announce that it has launched a tuition reduction initiative for approved graduate-level education programs and endorsements. The reduced rate is approximately 25% less than the current graduate tuition rate. Many of the degree programs and endorsements are offered 100% online. Jessica Buckley, PhD, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development, published, "A Grounded Theory of Education for Sustainability in the Postsecondary Classroom," in Review of Higher Education.
Kyle Ingle, PhD, Associate Professor and Assistant Department Chair in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development, published, "Photovoices of Urban Educational Leadership Students Abroad," in Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad.
Jason Jaggers, PhD, Assistant Professor, and co-author, Kristi King, PhD, Associate Professor, both in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences, published, "Predicting Nocturnal Hypoglycemia with Measures of Physical Activity Intensity in Adolescent Athletes with Type I Diabetes," in Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics.
Several CEHD faculty and students traveled to the American Educational Research Association's (AERA) annual meeting in April to present their research and network with colleagues from across the country. Shelley Thomas, PhD, shared this photo featuring the following faculty and students: Khristen Scott, A&S; student, Danielle Vincent, Jamie Smith, (both CEHD students), Penny Howell, associate professor in middle and secondary education, Sophie Daneshmand, (CEHD student), Shelley Thomas, associate professor in middle and secondary education, and La'Que Newby (CEHD student). Their presentation was titled, "Transforming Learning Communities Through Trauma Informed Teaching in Teacher Preparation." The CEHD students just completed teacher preparation programs and will graduate this spring.

Amber Roberts-Scott and Saundra Kimberlain, both Academic Advisors in the CEHD's Office of Education Advising and Student Services, were co-presenters at the 2019 Spring Advising Summit, which was held at UofL. Their presentation, "From Starting Gate to Home Stretch: Strategic Advising for Non-Traditional Students in a Traditional University", was also accepted to be presented at the 2019 National Academic Advising Association's (NACADA) annual conference that will be held this fall in Louisville, KY.
Chelsea Wicks, Academic Counselor Sr. in the CEHD's Office of Education Advising and Student Services, was selected to receive the 2019 UofL Kentuckiana Metroversity Outstanding Staff Member for Adult Student Learners. The award is presented each year to a staff member who assists and advocates for adult students.

Mike Miller, Field Training Coordinator in the Kentucky Autism Training Center (KATC), was selected by Jefferson County Schools (JCPS) to serve as a representative on the "Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook" (SSBIH) Revision Committee. Every two years, the district is required to review the SSBIH and make any necessary revisions. The Board will vote on a final SSBIH in May at a regular meeting.
Major Charles Bonner, a graduate student in the Human Resources and Organizational Development program, was selected as the 2019 UofL Kentuckiana Metroversity Outstanding Graduate Student for Adult Student Learners.
Brian "Buffalo Stille" Scott, an undergraduate student in the Organizational Leadership and Learning program, was selected for the 2019 UofL Kentuckiana Metroversity Adult Learner Award.
Elizabeth Perrero, an undergraduate student in the Exercise Science program, received an Undergraduate Research Fellowship from UofL's Cooperative Consortium for Transdisciplinary Social Justice Research. Perrero will investigate the barriers of accessing quality exercise in people with spinal cord injury under the supervision of Daniela Terson de Paleville, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences, and Jason Immekus, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development.
Sharon Kerrick, PhD, graduate of the Educational Leadership doctoral program and Dean of the College of Business at Bellarmine University, was named the 2019 Business Women First Mentor of the Year. View her video message...
