Applicants to the Professional Phase of the Bachelor of Science in Middle/Secondary Education (grades 5-9 or 8-12) are required to complete specific prerequisite courses for admission. In addition, applicants must have completed, or will complete, a minimum of 45 credit hours by the end of the Spring term in which they are applying.
Education course requirements include:
EDTP 201, The Teaching Profession
EDTP 107, Human Development and Learning
Students must earn a minimum "B" average for these two courses combined.
Competitive applicants should present a content grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Applicants with a content grade point average lower than 2.5 should consider repeating courses prior to application. For a listing of the content course requirements for each certification field, please meet with an Education advisor.
Note: Applicants may choose to complete the prerequisite course requirements through the University of Louisville or through another accredited institution. Applicants should meet with an Education advisor for further information and for a transcript review BEFORE applying to the teacher education program.
