UofL alumnus nets Pulitzer Prize for work on opinion series
“Congratulations.” At first it was that simple text without context from someone that puzzled Michael Lindenberger that surprising day, but the unexpected message soon was reinforced by an excited call from his boss. He was working from home, as were several other co-workers, when the journalists learned they were Pulitzer Prize winners.
Nine UofL scholars win Fulbright awards for 2022-2023
The University of Louisville announced June 30 that nine scholars have been awarded 2022-2023 Fulbright Awards. They will travel to Jordan, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Bahrain, Thailand, Czech Republic and Slovenia.

UofL graduate pushes through darkness to get to light
Gzeonie Hampton felt like she was coming home when she enrolled at UofL as a McConnell Scholar and a Porter Scholar. University of Louisville junior Lexi Raikes has won Kentucky’s only Harry S. Truman Scholarship for 2021. The award, valued at $30,000, is given to just 62 U.S. college students annually. It is the premier graduate scholarship for aspiring public service leaders in the United States.

In May, the Courier Journal received the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news for its investigative reporting of more than 600 pardons and commutations that former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin issued during his final weeks in office. Bailey worked on two of the stories that led to the Pulitzer, often cited as the highest achievement in journalism.
