November 13, 2009

The minutes of the meeting of Novemer  6 were approved as distributed.

The Committee approved the proposal for a B.S. in American Sign Language Interpreting Studies. 
Additionally, ITP 350:  Historical Perspectives on the Deaf Community was approved for the A&S upper-lever writing requirement (WR). 

The proposal to add PAS 349:  African Americans and Islam to the social science options in the minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies was approved.

The proposal to add ML 561:  Masterpieces of Russian Literature and HUM 361:  Russian Culture to courses applicable to the minor in Russian Studies was approved.

The following course actions were approved, effective Summer 2010.

  • ANTH 344:  Anthropology of Clothing (new course)
  • ANTH 347:  Global Capitalisms (new course)

[Both courses apply to the  topical course requirements in the B.A. in Anthropology (both concentrations) and  to the minor in Cultural Anthropology]

  • ANTH 532:  Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Globalization (new course)
  • ANTH 533:  Egyptian Folklore (new course)
  • ANTH 625:  Globalization, Transnationalism, and Anthropology (new course)

 

  • COMM 302:  Advanced Speech Communication (COMM 112, and 115 and HON 214 added as prerequisite options)

    BIOL 490:  Biology Internship (new course)

A statement that the course will not count toward the major or minor in Biology was added to BIOL  102, 104, 257, 258, 260, 261, 262, and 263.
