Dr. Afsharpad is board certified in Pathology. She received her medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Science in Tehran, Iran. Dr. Afsharpad worked as a family doctor for six years and then completed a residency at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine in Alberta, Canada and a Hematopathology Fellowship from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Afsharpad served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Immunology at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.

Her research interests involve studying correlations between genetic abnormalities and flow cytometry findings. She has co-authored numerous publications and abstracts in addition to being a primary investigator for six research projects.
