Dr. Mercia Gondim graduated from the Rio Grande do Norte Federal University in Natal, Brazil.  She completed her neurosurgery residency in Brazil and pediatric neurosurgery fellowship in the Necker Enfants Malades Hospital in France. As a pediatric neurosurgeon attending in Brazil, Dr. Gondim implemented several procedures and helped in treating rare and complicated cases. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, she also founded a local Association for Children with Myelomeningocele and Hydrocephalus. Thanks to this organization, they achieved many improvements in public welfare. In the US, she completed Anatomic Pathology residency training at Indiana University and pursued fellowship training in multiple specialties. Dr. Gondim is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology, Pediatric Pathology, and Neuropathology. She is also trained in GI and liver pathology. Previously, Dr. Gondim was a faculty member of the Department of Pathology at Norton Children’s Hospital.
