Dr. Jortani is the Chief of Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology at University of Louisville Hospital. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical and Forensic Toxicology from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed a fellowship in Clinical Chemistry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and Fellow of the National Academy for Clinical Biochemistry. He was a previous Director of the American Board for Clinical Chemistry and previous Commissioner of the Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Jortani is the founder of a rapidly-growing clinical trial organization spun off of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine: KCTL (kentuckyctl.com).

Detection and measurement of drugs, therapeutics and poisons, herbal medicine poisonings, and the use of pharmacogenetics in postmortem investigations.
