As we head into the holidays, some of our School of Medicine staff families have greater needs this year due to COVID-19. This year, SMART is hosting a food drive for our employees who could use a little support with holiday meals.

Here’s how it works:

Those who can, donate to the SOM Staff Holiday Meal Fund online here.

Beginning the week before Thanksgiving, any employee of the School of Medicine may make a request for Holiday Meal Support. These requests are received in the office of the chief of staff and are kept confidential.

An employee may request up to two holiday meals – one at Thanksgiving and the other for use in December.

Requests should be submitted by those who truly are in need and who otherwise would be unable to provide or enjoy a holiday meal during this season. There will be no needs assessment – requests will be supported by the honor system.

What will be provided:

For employees requesting assistance – SMART will use collected funds to provide $100 worth of food to support a holiday meal. Due to restrictions on gift cards, food purchases will be made online on behalf of the employee and employees may pick up the purchased food at their nearest Kroger.

SMART will support Thanksgiving and other holiday meals until December 15, 2020.
