WHO Makes Your Day?

The UofL School of Medicine is composed of over 1,000 employees who work hard every day to further the mission and goals of every single department, division, and unit.  To help honor and recognize the outstanding individuals and a team who helps make our school an exceptional learning and working environment, Dean Ganzel has hosted the STAFF EXCELLENCE AWARD PROGRAM each November since 2016.

UofL School of Medicine Basic Science Department Staff Award for Performance ExcellenceSelection is based on excellence in job performance for a UofL staff member in a basic science department.
ULP Clinical Department Staff Award for Performance ExcellenceSelection is based on excellence in job performance for a ULP staff member in a clinical department.
UofL School of Medicine Clinical Department Staff Award for Performance ExcellenceSelection is based on excellence in job performance for a UofL staff member in a clinical department.
UofL School of Medicine Administrative Office Staff Award for Performance ExcellenceSelection is based on excellence in job performance for a staff member in an administrative office.
UofL School of Medicine Heart of the SchoolThis award recognizes the contributions of an individual who actively supports camaraderie and culture building within their department/division/unit and who works to foster a climate that makes the School of Medicine a great place to learn and work.
UofL School of Medicine Team of the YearSelection based on a team or group's high level of performance or achievement to advance the mission of the School of Medicine.

ULP CEO Award for Performance ExcellenceSelection based on an individual's consistent demonstration of commitment and execution of advancing the University of Louisville Physicians' mission by using sound judgement, initiative, adaptability, and reliability.
UofL School of Medicine Employee of the YearSelection based on an individual's consistent demonstration of commitment and execution of advancing the School of Medicine's mission by using sound judgement, initiative, adaptability, and reliability.

 


Eligibility Requirements

In order for an individual to be eligible for an award, they must:

  • be employed at least .8 FTE
  • be employed in the department for which they are being nominated for a min. of 12 consecutive months
  • not be on a Performance Improvement Plan
  • not be the recipient of an award in the previous 5 years

 

Nomination Process

Nominations will be available online beginning in mid-August.  To complete the nomination process, you must submit a signed letter of support from the nominee's immediate supervisor AND submit at least one letter of recommendation for the nominee.

Please note:  If you nominated an individual for the prior award year and they did not win, please specify on the application if you would like to use the information submitted in that award year.

The first round of review will be completed by the Dean's Office to make nominations non-identifiable and to ensure all nomination information is complete.  The second round of review will be completed by an Awards Panel comprised of representatives from the School of Medicine that includes senior members of the Dean's Leadership Staff.
