Six McConnell Scholars to spend a month in China
Six McConnell Scholars from the Class of 2017 will travel to Beijing, Xi’an and Beijing as part of their McConnell Scholarship experience.
Over the course of 30 days (May 25-June 23), the group will take courses through the Kentucky Institute for International Studies, engage with Chinese English speaking students and explore cultural, political and historic sites at each location.
Frank Bencomo-Suarez, Christian Bush, Robert Gassman, Kyle Hilbrecht, Phillip Lentsch and Macey Mayes will study Chinese culture, including film, religion and politics.
“I am so excited to begin this international journey. I know this experience will give me the opportunity to grow as both a scholar and as a global citizen,” Mayes said.
