Scholars help winterize homes through Project Warm
Thirty-two McConnell Scholars participated in Project Warm’s Blitz Program this month, helping provide free weatherization service for low-income families, senior citizens and disabled residents in Louisville.
“I wanted to continue our tradition of participation in the program because this is one of the only opportunities we have as Scholars to all come together and truly impact the community in a positive way,” said Robert Gassman, a sophomore McConnell Scholar and chair of the Scholars’ service initiatives.
Armed with tape, scissors, ladders and other supplies, scholars spent Nov. 7 and Nov. 14 in teams working to insulate windows ahead of a cold winter.
Scholars have participated annually in the Blitz Program, which involves over 600 volunteers during the month of November.
