McConnell Scholar named Miss University of Louisville
McConnell Scholar Anna Cecile Pepper (’18) was named Miss University of Louisville on Saturday. The Miss UofL Pageant is a Miss Kentucky/Miss America preliminary hosted by the UofL chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority.
"It's very humbling to know that I was chosen to represent the University of Louisville out of so many amazing candidates," Pepper said.
For the talent portion of the competition, Pepper performed ballet, which she has taken since childhood. Pepper will advance to the Miss Kentucky level of competition May 29-30 in Lexington, Ky. The state winner will then compete in the national Miss America competition.
"I am very honored and surprised to have won," Pepper said. "I've never done a pageant before, so going into it I simply wanted to have fun and to grow and to learn. I never imagined walking away with the title."
Pepper, of Elizabethtown, KY, is a freshman studying political science and economics. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and the University Honors Program. She has been on service trips to Costa Rica and the Ukraine and is a 2014 graduate of Elizabethtown High School.
