Louisville, Ky. (September 6, 2023) – The McConnell Center is pleased to announce that Debra “Debbie” Ramsey will serve as its new Curator for the McConnell Chao Archives.

As Curator, Ramsey is responsible for the overall leadership and management activities of the McConnell Chao Archives. She will work directly with Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Secretary Elaine Chao, and their staffs to identify materials for the collection and provide guidance on program initiatives and archival activities.

“Joining the McConnell Chao Archives as its Curator feels like coming home,” Ramsey said. “This opportunity is an incredible honor and I am thrilled to dive in! I have had the warmest welcome from my colleagues at the McConnell Center and can’t wait to see what the future holds for our collections."

McConnell Center Director Dr. Gary Gregg is excited to welcome Ramsey to the organization. “We are thrilled to have such a talented and experienced Curator taking over the leadership of the historically important records we are charged with preserving and making available to the public. Debbie will be a great addition to the McConnell Center team,” Gregg said.

Ramsey previously worked in Senator McConnell’s Washington D.C. office as an archivist for both his personal office and the Republican Leader’s Office. Before that, she served as the Bob Bullock Archivist and Director of the W.R. Poage Legislative Library at Baylor University.

Ramsey began her new role in late July.
